LCF BA Catwalk show & exhibition 2012.
We were asked by The
London College of Fashion to design this year's BA catwalk show and exhibition. The catwalk was held at a temporary venue on Shorditch High St –
Hackey House – and the exhibition at
Factory 7.
We created a concept involving mirrors and reflections with LCF, then collaborated with our friends at
Jail to produce the project. Within the catwalk space we created a forest of triangular, mirrored totems. Models would emerge from the totems and their reflections would be distributed across the mirrors. The models would then continue into the centre of the space where the catwalk continued under a large hanging mirrored structure.
Close by at Factory 7, the exhibition displayed a selection of the
student's work, involving garments, accessories, contour and footwear. We constructed three display units to show the large variety of work. Large garments and contour were displayed in hanging units. These units were constructed from mirrored acrylic at a 90 degree angle which created a 4 way repeated reflection prism. Smaller objects were displayed in a smaller version of the reflection prism and 15 pieces were selected to be displayed in the central hanging wave installation. The wave was constructed from 2 way mirrored acrylic, each box contained animated lighting. When illuminated the work inside the box was revealed then concealed by mirror when the light faded out.
