We were approached by
The Fragmented Orchestra in early 2008 to create a film for their entry into the
PRS Foundation New Music Award. On the winning the top prize, we were asked to create a visual language for all aspects of the project. This included the identity itself, exhibition design – including a 30ft vinyl graphic that spanned the gallery wall, a poster, and a performance catalogue.
The Fragmented Orchestra is a huge distributed musical structure modeled on the firing of neurons within the brain’s cortex. It is designed by its composers to perform a profound and unique score to thousands of listeners across the UK. This instrument, a model of a brain, will be distributed across 24 public locations throughout the UK, and the central venue FACT (
Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) in Liverpool.
We are currently working with the Fragmented Orchestra on a series of further projects.
